How your child learns at The Art Learning Center.
What your child will do
Your child will paint, draw, sing, dance, build and pretend every day. In our classrooms, these are the lessons. Your child’s teacher plans each one around a skill, such as recognizing letters, counting, speaking in a group or working with a friend. Your child learns by doing, with real materials in their hands.

What your child will gain
- Language and early reading skills
- Early math and problem solving
- Strong hands for writing and drawing
- Independence and classroom habits
- Friendships, sharing and self-control
- A love of school

A proven curriculum, planned for your child’s class
Every classroom uses Creative Curriculum, which is aligned with Pennsylvania’s Early Learning Standards, so what your child learns here leads directly into kindergarten. Each teacher chooses the topics for their own classroom and writes weekly lesson plans, and our director reviews every plan. Your child’s teacher plans around what the children in that room are ready for and curious about.
A classroom built for your child’s age
Every classroom is arranged into learning centers: art, blocks, dramatic play and dress-up, math and science, a sand and water table, and a quiet area with books. Your child chooses where to work, learns to clean up before moving on and, by Pre-K, manages their time on a schedule.

Progress you can see
You will see your child’s artwork on the classroom walls and in their backpack. You will also see their progress in writing. Teachers complete a first assessment within 45 days of your child’s start, assess again through the year and meet with you for a conference at least three times.
Celebrations and family mornings
Your child’s class celebrates each season with a classroom party, special snacks, games and art projects. You are invited in through the year too, for Open House, Muffins with Mom, Donuts with Dad and family workshops. We provide all the supplies.
